The interactive event will be this year’s biggest attraction at Gitex Digital Game Championship, held at Airport Expo as part of Gitex Technology Week and Gitex Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo from October 19 to October 21. Sixteen regional teams will compete in the popular game Countre-Strike. In addition, the top-four regional teams will then take part in the Global Challenge Tournament ‘Intel Extreme Masters III’ from October 22 to October 24 where they will compete against some of the world’s top players. The winners of this Middle East leg of this competition will share prize money of approaching Dh200,000. Greg Zaralides, ICT Industry Group Manager, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organiser of Gitex Shopper, said: “Digital gaming is becoming a global phenomenon. Young adults right across the Middle East have caught the bug of high-tech interactive gaming and it is a huge growth market in the region. Gitex Shopper will help to showcase the latest developments in both hardware and software as well as provide the ultimate competition where everyone from pro-gamers to casual enthusiasts can battle it out.” DWTC has partnered with Europe’s leading Computer Gaming League, The Electronic Sports League (ESL), to organise the one of the most exciting game tournaments in the Middle East as part of Gitex Digital Game World.

The event will use advanced interactive technology to link thousands of gamers during Gitex Shopper at Airport Expo. Teams can register at www.gitexshopperdubai.com.
