E. Ahmed,  Rajagopal lead in Kerela

Shashi Tharoor and Mullappally Ramachandran are trailing in Trivandrum and Vatakara respectively. The lead of BJP candidate O Rajagopal has crossed 10, 000 votes at Trivandrum.

Federal Minister for External Affairs E Ahmed has made sure his victory at Malappuram in Kerala by establishing an unassailable lead of over 70, 000 votes. His Muslim League colleague E T Mohammed Basheer is also surging ahead with a steady lead of over 24,000 votes at nearby Ponnani.

Minister for Food K V Thomas (Congress) has also established a clear lead of over 26, 000 votes in Ernakulam against former IAS officer Christy Fernandez, an independent backed by the CPI (M). Among other ministers, Shashi Tharoor and Mullappally Ramachandran are trailing in Trivandrum and Vatakara respectively. The lead of BJP candidate O Rajagopal has crossed 10, 000 votes at Trivandrum.

The other ministers K C Venugopal and Kodikkunnil Suresh are ahead in Aleppey and Mavelikkara respectively.

Besides maintaining steady lead in their sitting seats at Attingal, Alathur, Palghat and Kasargod, the opposition Communist Party has thrown big challenge to the ruling front in their sitting seats of Vatakara, Kannur, Trichur, Chalakkudy and Idukki.
