Speaking to Khaleej Times about the achievements of the DWA during the last 30 years, Fatima Al Sari said that as part of the women's education programme, the DWA founded the Adult Education Centre in 1981 to contribute to illiteracy eradication among UAE women and encourage young ladies to complete their education.

According to her, more than 1,349 women graduated from the centre since its establishment. These graduates are currently playing an important role in social and economic development by participating in the workforce of the country. In order to expand and enhance social services, the DWA also created religious, social, health and cultural sections which are playing a significant role in social and women development through their awareness activities and programmes.

Ms Al Sari said that as rural women require more assistance, the DWA has established its branches in Al Khawaneej, Hatta, Liselie to make efforts to fulfill their needs. She said that the DWA branches in these areas were providing suitable development programmes and services for women and children to guarantee them more meaningful participation in society.

She pointed out that DWA Chairperson Amina bint Humaid Al Tayer, accompanied by officials of the association, made several visits to these rural areas and learnt about the problems that they face and their foremost needs. “We spoke to women and identified their basic needs and then addressed them,” she said.
