Dubai and Seychelles, Malaysian and Lebanese tourism organisations agreed to exchange information and expertise in different areas to explore further avenues to promote destinations.

Heritage on show

The DTCM as part of its continued endeavour to promote Dubai's ancient art, heritage and culture, has set up a dedicated area of 35 sq. metres for a showcase of heritage activities at the Dubai stand at the ATM.

A live demonstration of the ancient art of calligraphy along with rope-making and perfume-making has fascinated the international visitors to the stand. The Dubai stand features an attractive display of photographs and traditional exhibits portraying Dubai of yesteryears.

Measuring 801 square metres, the Dubai stand is the biggest that the DTCM has ever set up with an all-time record of 124 co-participants from the private and the public sector.

This year, Dubai's stand is 28.5 per cent larger than in 2005. The co-participants from the public sector are Dubai Convention Bureau, Dubai Police, Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Summer Surprises, Dubai World Trade Centre and the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department.

Outside the venue of the ATM at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Arabic dancers in their traditional costume are welcoming guests to be a part of Middle East's largest travel and trade show. While calligrapher Narjes Noureldin is offering a valuable lesson in calligraphy to all the visitors to the Dubai stand.

"The DTCM has always been at the forefront of reviving and restoring Dubai's art, culture and heritage. The ATM, being the largest Middle East Travel and Tourism Fair has provided us with another opportunity to showcase Dubai's ancient art, culture and heritage," said Khalifa Ali Buamaim, DTCM Manager, Overseas Promotions.
