Speculations rife about the lender being Yes Bank
In his opening statement on behalf of the UAE, Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy ruler of Dubai, welcomed the UAE guests and thanked them for accepting the invitation to participate in this global event which is held for the first time outside the United Nations headquarters in New York.
“One and half billion people out of seven billions around the world are deprived of the electric energy, which represents a massive challenge for us, and we should all face this through cooperation and coordination among all the advanced and developing countries” he said.
The three-day event is held to boost the international cooperation and exchange of expertise to ensure safe and clean sustainable energy, which would achieve economic and social welfare for the people.
Deputy Ruler of Dubai affirmed that “despite the UAE is an oil country, but it seeks seriously to reduce the causes of climate change and achieve sustainability in diversifying of energy sources”, citing the hosting of International Renewable Energy’s “Irena” headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
He added, “We hope that the UAE will be a role model”, congratulating the African leaders and representatives on holding the “African Energy Summit” at the sidelines of WEF. “Organising this summit will contribute to changing to new era of sustainable energy.”
UN under-secretary hailed UAE for hosting this international meeting on the renewable energy, which focuses on diversification of energy sources.
Ahmed Bin Heli, Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League in his statement, hailed the role of the UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and its effective cooperation with the international community in the humanitarian, social, economic and political issues, as well as supporting the international community in order to help the developing countries worldwide.
Before the conclusion of the inaugural session, Vice -President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, signed on the document of the ‘United Nations Declaration on Sustainable Energy. The document was also signed by the heads of delegations.
The Speaker of FNC Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Shaikh Ahmed bin Saaed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Mohammed Dhaen Al Hamil, Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director of the Dubai Ruler’s Court, ministers, senior officials and heads of the delegations.
