He stressed that the Corporation was doing its best to ensure that the bus service, which links Dubai with the rest of the emirates, is providing quality service that is synonymous to the name of the Corporation and the image of the city.

He said that the Corpora-tion's 105 buses transported a total of 254,226 passengers. This number comprises 214,656 passengers to Sharjah, 2,622 passengers to Ajman, 3,761 passengers to Umm Al Quwain, 3,603 passengers to Ras Al Khaimah, 871 passengers to Al Dhaid, 523 passengers to Masafi, 3,300 passengers to Fujairah, 16,655 passengers to Abu Dhabi and 8,235 passengers to Al Ain.

Mr Hashim noted that as part of its plans to ensure smooth operations of the bus service, the Corporation is currently implementing a plan to phase out some of the old buses and replace them with new ones to ensure the safety of the passengers as well as maintain the standard of quality service set by the Corporation.

"We also renew the buses considering the length of service of each vehicle and the 12 destinations that we serve out of Dubai," Mr Hashim added.

The bus service has two stations across the city - one in Deira and another in Bur Dubai - which ensures that the whole emirate is covered. "The entire process in these stations is supervised," he said.
