Mohammed Obaid Al Mullah, CEO of Public Transport Agency, RTA said that Dubai Taxi would add 271 cars to the fleet this month. "Another 270 cars — driven by two drivers per vehicle — would be added to the fleet in September this year bringing the total number of taxis operating round-the-clock to 1,082 vehicles," added Al Mulla.
Al Mulla said that Dubai Taxi has 541 cars at present that operate round-the-clock in addition to ladies' taxi.
The official also said that the Reservation and Distribution Section of Dubai Taxi had received 276,835 telephone calls in March alone. "This is the rate of 9,228 calls per day. The total reservations executed were 228,099 while the response rate was 14 seconds and the rate of car arrival to the customer was 15 minutes," he explained.
Al Mulla said that nearly 6,200 taxis belonging to Dubai Taxi and its franchise companies can be tracked down using the Global Positioning System (GPS) via satellite.
