The decision-making support course was inaugurated by Major-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, on Saturday.

He said that top experts from the Arab world as well as a professor from the US were lecturing at the course. "Decision-making these days is one of the most serious administrative tasks encountered by officials at all levels. There is now no room for trial and error as a wrong decision by the junior-most official could adversely affect the senior-most administrative level," said Maj Gen Dhahi.

The police chief said that major advancements in information technology, besides the major strides taken in telecommunications and research approaches, had provided the means to help officials in taking the appropriate decision. He said the course would equip officials in government departments and other agencies with the necessary tools that support the decision-making process.
The inauguration, held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, was attended by Dr Mohammed Murad Abdullah, Director of the Decision-Making Centre of Dubai Police.

Maj Gen Dhahi said the lecturers taking part in the course had been invited from around the globe to enrich the contents of the course.

Dr Faridoun Mohammed Naguib, scientific coordinator of the course, said the study had been a continuation of police efforts to enhance the skills of police cadres.
