A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was received by a senior Dubai Police official. The meeting discussed ways to boost cooperation in various fields.

The delegation including Mand Pukrank and Joy K. Smallwood was accompanied by UAE Central Bank officials and police officers specialising in the investigation of economic crimes from the Dubai Police’ CID.

Brigadier Khamis Mattar Al Mazainah, Director of the CID, explained the great strides taken by police in upgrading standards of performance. He honoured the delegation with a Dubai Police plaque at the end of the meeting.

The IMF delegation extended thanks to the Dubai Police for their cooperation and praised their performance especially in the investigation of economic crimes.

In September 2003, Dubai hosted the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. The event was held for the first time in an Arab city.

Dubai made impressive preparations to ensure the success of that event. The then managing director of the IMF, Horst Kohler, said: "The arrangements were exemplary.”

The IMF is a 184-member multilateral financial institution created nearly 60 years ago to promote and support policies aimed at creating sustainable global growth.
