DUBAI — A woman has been arrested with two kilogrammes of heroin in Dubai as she waited to be paid to take it to Europe, Dubai police officers said.
The Dubai Police Anti-Narcotics Department arrested an African woman, 38, at a hotel in Al Naif area on Saturday, July 11, and seized a suitcase in her possession that contained the heroin.
During the police investigation the alleged suspect, a 38-year-old, said she travelled to Pakistan where she was approached by a member of a drug smuggling network based in Peshawar.
The gang member bought her a ticket and told her to stay in a hotel in Dubai, where she arrived three days ago from Pakistan. After she came to Dubai an agent of the drug trafficker came to her and gave her the heroin.
The woman told the police that the agent promised to visit her within a few days and give her $4,000 and a ticket in order to transport the drug to Europe.
She told the police investigators that she had visited Dubai many times but she did not bring heroin, and it was her first time dealing in drugs. The suspect was referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution.
