The December 16-19 workshop by the Protocol School of Washington(PSOW) aims at addressing a regional demand for diplomacy skills, organisers said.
The four-day training will include international etiquette and social intelligence, business entertaining, logistics of official delegations and visits, gift giving, ceremony sequencing and international flags and anthems.
“We have graduates from the UAE, India, Egypt, Africa and Saudi Arabia,” said Pamela Eyring, President, PSOW. “But we keep hearing from people from these and other regions that they can’t (for financial or visa reasons) come to the US, so we decided to come to them.” In 2007 only one Middle-Easterner attended PSOW’s training. The number jumped to six in 2008.
Ahmad Al Zaabi, assistant director-general of Protocol Department-Dubai, said the department’s core function was to serve VIPs, official delegations and the Ruling Family, and was responsible for ensuring high quality services.
