Dubai Municipality has saved Dh7.9 million in 2013 as a result of implementing the suggestions of employees in different areas of the municipal works.
Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said this during the honouring ceremony, for the Suggestions System launched by the civic body, in GW Marriot Marquis Hotel, Dubai.
Lootah said that the suggestion system since its inception in 2000 has been improving its performance each year as the total number of suggestions during the period 2000 to 2013 reached to 47,722 suggestion submitted by 9,600 employees where the total revenues and financial savings achieved from the suggestions during this period amounted to Dh 319.138 million.
“The Municipality spent a total of Dh 5.874 million to honour and encourage the owners of useful suggestions. During 2013 only there were 9,543 suggestions where the savings from implementing these suggestions totalled at Dh 7.991 million,” he explained.
“This year we have honoured 34 suggestions submitted by groups and individuals by the efforts of 89 employees from different departments recognizing their contribution to the suggestion system under the title “Have Your Say”, he added.
Khalid Abdul Rahim, Director of HR Department said, “The civic body has been always encouraging its employees to come up with innovative and constructive ideas to serve the community better as it understands the real value of its human resources who have profound knowledge and experience in diversified areas of municipal and public works.”
