The agreement was signed by Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, DEG, and Mohamed Fouz, CEO of EHDF, at the GITEX 2008.

Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, DEG and EHDF will work together to provide services to corporate customers from several sectors in the Middle East.

EHDF has already worked to manage and operate the Dubai eGovernment portal infrastructure, deploying second-generation platforms such as services infrastructure, services technology and backup, creating the foundation to expand its services to non-government sectors throughout the UAE.

While addressing a Press conference at the region’s leading technology event in Dubai, the CEO, EHDP said: “The initiative is based on the collective knowledge of DEG on e-transformation and EHDF’s expertise as the Middle East’s leading IT-managed service provider on managed services and operational outsourcing.”

Mohamed Fouz further said that “Our partnership will provide government and non-government entities, institutions, businesses and individuals with a secure and user-friendly platform for operating their business and conducting daily transactions more efficiently and conveniently.”

Apart from electronic payment solutions through credit and debit cards, mobile phones and other avenues, the services offered through the agreement will also address business continuity and disaster recovery; strategy and design consultancy for government portals while offering the platform as a service for virtualisation, storage, and networking; and software as a service for creating web portals and identity management.
