The first suspect was nabbed on Friday in the transit hall of Terminal-3. The suspect was booked on a European flight from Asia. The passenger had swallowed 102 capsules of heroine. Due to unexpected contractions in his bowels he had to bring some of it out and hid them in his handbag.
The manual search revealed 19 capsules of what later proved to be heroine wrapped in a plastic bag hidden subtly in the suspect’s bag,” Director of Passenger Operation Department at Dubai Customs Ali Al Mugahwi said.
“When interrogated by the Passenger Investigation Department employees, the accused confessed to have swallowed the capsules.
Mugahwi said that the suspect had no intention to smuggle the contraband into the UAE. “He said he was only planning to deliver the drugs to his accomplices when arriving home.”
The suspect and the seizure were transferred to the Anti-Narcotics Office at the Airport.
Dubai Customs also foiled the bid to smuggle cannabis from an African country to a European destination at Dubai International Airport recently.
