du would like to keep its customers updated on the actions being taken from the time of the partial submarine cable cut of the Flag-Falcon Cable System, operated by Reliance Globalcom Company, which occurred on Wednesday March 23rd 2011. The fault is located around 30 to 45 km from the Flag-Falcon Cable landing station in Dubai.

This has resulted in a degradation of internet services across the entire region including the UAE. Around 30% of du’s overall available internet capacity has been affected.

du would like to assure its customers that it has taken immediate action to ease the situation by re-routing its traffic over other available links. According to the cable operators, internet performance is expected to go back to more normal levels by March 30th 2011.

du apologizes for any inconveniences caused by the incident and is committed to providing further updates informing its customers of actions being taken to restore capacity performance to normal levels.
