DTGA attracts 24 participants from eleven nationalities

DUBAI - Twenty-four tour guides from 11 nationalities are taking up the Dubai Tour Guide Award (DTGA) course being conducted by Training Solutions, established by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in January 2001 to offer courses to individuals interested in enhancing their skills and tourism industry knowledge.

The nine-day programme started today and is being conducted at the state-of-the-art Dubai Cruise Terminal. This is the third course being conducted this year.

Tour guides hail from India, Pakistan, Jordan, Morocco, Belguim, Nigeria, UK, Finland, Philippines, Belarus, and Slovakia. The tour guides have to undertake this course to renew their professional licences annually. There are presently 353 licensed tour guides operating in Dubai. The participants are provided information that enhances their knowledge about Dubai's geography, culture and heritage, economy and key organisations in addition to local regulations and places of interest.
