The DSS delegation includes DSS CEO Saeed Al Nabouda and DSS COO Ibrahim Saleh, who will conduct roadshows and workshops throughout the GCC to unveil the various events and activities to be held during DSS 2006. The Kuwait roadshow on May 13 and 14 will be the first in the series to be followed by Qatar (May 15 and 16), Bahrain (May 17 and 18) and then Saudi Arabia (May 22 and 23) in Riyadh and May 24 and 25 in Jeddah.

Commenting on the promotional campaign, Al Nabouda said: "These roadshows provide us with a good opportunity to spread the message of the event and to give good reasons for regional visitors to come down to Dubai and join us in the various attractive activities put up to make this summer yet another vibrant season."

Added Al Nabouda, "Statistics have shown a steady climb in the number of visitors from the GCC during the DSS making Dubai a perfect summer retreat for them. Also because Dubai is a home away-from-home for GCC nationals and residents, we see a lot of potential in developing a strong tourism base for the DSS there.

Being an event packed with entertainment, fun and creative activities, DSS has a mass appeal which attracts visitors in growing numbers year after year. And this is not all, every year this mega summer fiesta comes with a variety of new additions that add to its charm manifold. This year too DSS promises to be a greater adventure, with bigger surprises and even bigger prizes for all," he said.

Each year DSS comes with an element of freshness and an array of new events to rekindle the interest of every one. The GCC roadshows will throw open the wide spectrum of events that are lined up for DSS this year so that families can plan their vacations accordingly.

Added Al Nabouda, "Details of every theme running through the 10 weeks of DSS will be highlighted through workshops and press conferences. In addition, tour operators and rent-a-car companies will also unveil promotional packages designed especially for the GCC visitors. New events and promotions like the Spas Promotion, Food Fiesta, Safari Adventure, the Summer Deals for the retail trade and the restaurants and the Grand Dubai Summer Surprises Raffle of BMW cars, the Dubai Shopping Malls Group and the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group raffles etc," he said.

As a special token of appreciation a 50 per cent discount is being offered on accommodation, transport and visa for 100 GCC-based journalists and their families when they visit Dubai during the DSS. A formal announcement of the promotion will be made at the Kuwait roadshow and other destinations concluding with Jeddah on May 25.

Packed with an array of colourful, fun-filled activities and a host of events, the DSS promises two-and-a-half months of great summer fun and frolic. It kickstarts on June 21 and will be on until September 1 and promises to offer a much-needed respite from the summer heat with its attractive bouquet of events. Apart from the 10 themed weekly surprises starting with Ice Surprises followed by Arts Surprises, Food Surprises, Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises, Nature Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises, Heritage Surprises and culminating in Back-to-School Surprises. This year DSS comes with a whole range of new offers and deals being featured for the first time ever.

Included in the new promotions are the Summer Deals, which will see participation of retail outlets such as fast food joints and restaurants besides others.
