Drug cases in Sharjah record a drop

SHARJAH — The number of drug cases in Sharjah has decreased in the first quarter of 2005 compared to 2004, said Lieutenant Obied Al Shamsi, Head of the Anti-Narcotics Department in Sharjah Police.

Recent statistics showed that 23 cases were registered this year compared to 25 cases in 2004. The statistics also show that no case of drug usage leading to death was registered and it showed a decrease in the number of drug addicts.

Lt. Al Shamsi said that the department had confiscated several types of drugs in varying quantities, most prominent being 7019 drug pills.
