Drug carrier arrested in Dubai

DUBAI - An African woman, who arrived in Dubai on an Emirates flight from Uganda, was on February 9 referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution for possessing over 600 grammes of heroin.

The 42-year-old Ugandan passport-holder, identified as S.A., arrived on the night intervening Thursday and Friday. On suspicion, the Customs officers searched her baggage. During the search, the woman allegedly attempted to bribe a lady Customs officer. It was then that she was taken into custody and sent to Rashid Hospital where she passed out capsules containing almost 640 grammes of heroin.

During interrogation, the woman told the police that she had been paid $1,500 by an unidentified person Uganda to transport the drugs to Teheran.
