Driver severly injured

DUBAI — An Egyptian driver was severely injured in an accident that took place at Al Ain road opposite Al Wasl Hospital around 2pm yesterday.

The driver who was was heading towards Dubai downtown lost control over his speeding vehicle which jumped the curb and hit the tyre of a heavily-loaded Mercedes Actros 3340, owned by Dubai Port.

Due to the force of the impact, the car spinned and collided with a Mitsubishi truck owned by Golden Fork.

The driver was extracted from the wreck by Dubai Police personnel who rushed to the site on being informed.

A rescue team from Al Wasl hospital transferred the man who sustained severe head and back injuries to the hospital.

The victim in his semi-conscious state claimed that his name was Adel and that he was carrying his licence in his pocket and a bag full of money in the car.

But the police were unable to find the bag or the driving licence or any other ID, except for a bank card and some money in his pocket.

The two truck drivers have been taken into custody for interrogation.
