Drive against pavement parking

DUBAI — The Chief Executive Officer of Traffic and Roads Agency in the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Engineer Maitha Bin Adai, has praised the Jebel Ali Police Station’s cooperation in support of the recent two-week campaign against parking of vehicles on pavements.

The campaign by the Traffic Department aimed at urging motorists not to park their vehicles on pavements, which harms the public interest and blocks the passage of the pedestrians.

Eng Maitha pointed out that the campaign monitored the spread of the phenomenon, particularly in some areas of Jumeirah, where the awareness team affixed guidance cards to more than 189 vehicles parked on pavements.

The Al Mateena area topped the list with 265 vehicles parked on pavements followed by Hor Al Anz 250 cases.

The team reported 242 pavement parking cases in Al-Baraha and hundreds of cases in other areas.

The official called upon motorists to abide by the traffic rules. “All drivers are required to safeguard the rights of pedestrians,” she added.
