Dubai Municipality received complaints against Krispy Kreme for pork contamination but found no trace after subjecting samples to high-tech testing.

“In order to enhance the confidence of consumers and in response to some questions and messages we received on the extent of pork contaminants in Krispy Kreme doughnuts, we have been conducting thorough examinations of the samples to verify the components,” said Hawa Bastaki, Director of Dubai CentralLaboratory, Departmentof Dubai Municipality.

The tests however have failed to show any trace of pork, she said.

Dr Mazin Abbas, a specialist in genetic engineering and biotechnology in theDubai CentralLaboratory said they had used techniques toanalyse food at the molecular level and determine if there was any pork content.
