The expansion in the services, to be implemented in two phases, is part of DoT’s endeavour to prioritize and accelerate transportation projects within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, aimed at offering increased mobility and convenience to the community.
In the Phase I of the expansion, to be implemented by the end of 2010, DoT will launch two new bus services - Route No. 910 and Route No. 920 - operating 14 additional buses. Route No. 910 will link Ramlat Al Raae, Hili Park, Al Ain Souq and Na’amah, while Route No. 920 links Hili Souq, Hili Park, Al Ain Souq, UAE University and Al Sha’ibah.
In the second phase of the expansion, DoT will launch eight new bus services to connect the various parts of Al Ain, aimed at enhancing the transportation comfort and demands of the community. The new services, to be announced at a later stage, will involve host of new routes planned in such a way that they don’t go through the City Center.
DoT currently operates eight bus services in Al Ain, on Route Nos. 900, 930, 940, 950, 960, 970, 980 and 990. The services operate between 06:00 hours and 01:00 hours, with variable timings depending on the routes and demand, with a frequency of every 30 minutes. All the services culminate on Zayed Bin Sultan [137th] Street at Al Ain Souq.
The enhanced route network and new bus services in Al Ain is part of DoT’s broader plans to ensure that services and infrastructure are coordinated and tailored to the current and future needs of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, by delivering safe, secure and environmentally-responsible transport solutions in accordance with its 2030 Vision.
