‘SMS to Donate’ has been launched by du, in conjunction with Red Crescent, to enable customers to contribute to important causes by making a donation toward the provision of Iftar meals, sponsorship of orphans, construction of a masjid (mosque), provision of Eid clothing, and/or sadaqa (voluntary Islamic giving). From the first day of the holy month, du users can text “Ramadan” to 8000 after which customers will receive instructions for making donations, including lists of keywords and short-codes for different donation amounts. du will be organising Mawaed Al Rahman (free Iftar meals) in air-conditioned tents. Conveniently located close to mosques in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, each of the tents will provide meals to over 500 people every evening – 375 at tables and 125 at takeaway counters.

“It is our privilege to serve the communities that have contributed so much to our success as a homegrown UAE company. We are committed to strengthening the fabric of local society by honouring important occasions like Ramadan and making the most of opportunities to improve the lives of those who rely on our compassion,” said a du representative.
