Discipline requires official intervention

THE conflict that took place at the Ministry of Education between two departments of the ministry’s private education wing over approvals and suspensions of dealings disclosed, as reported in Al Bayan on Sunday, a bid to circumvent the decisions, exploit the signatures of senior officials, and construe them in ways different from their content. A higher authority should, in this case, intervene to stop such acts. And as long as the signature of the undersecretary was reportedly being misused, the undersecretary should intervene to halt the dealing.

The dealing was about the desire of a school to get students registered, though the school was still under construction, and had not obtained a final approval to commence the work. The final consent requires the production of a certificate from the municipality and the Civil Defence department authenticating the fitness of the school’s building, a report from the Educational Zone confirming the suitability and readiness of the premises, and the name of the nominated principal. Interventions in such cases and other similar ones is required for greater control and discipline.
