Dh705m Rashid Hospital underpass planned

DUBAI - The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has decided to award the contract of the Rashid Hospital Underpass at a cost of Dh705 million, said Mattar Al Tayer, the Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA yesterday.

The contract is part of an integrated project through which RTA is aspiring to remove traffic congestion in the vicinity of Rashid Hospital, and improve traffic flow in the area.

Once completed, the roads would be able to take 6,000 vehicles per hour, the official opined.

"The project involves constructions of roads and two underpasses, each consisting of two lanes, to serve the traffic flow from Tariq bin Ziyad and Umm Hurair Roads towards the junction of Al Riyadh Road.

“The first underpass extends from Tariq bin Ziyad Road and passes underneath Al Maktoum Bridge."
