The claimant F.E. had filed a case in the Ajman Court of First Instance seeking Dh4,000,000 as compensation. However, after reviewing the report of the forensic specialist who was assigned to assess the damage and disability of the claimant, the court ordered the two insurance companies to pay him Dh700,000.

The specialist’s report had confirmed 100 per cent disability of the claimant due to the accident.

The two companies appealed to the Ajman Court of Appeal, which, too, ordered one of the insurance companies to pay Dh560,000 and the other to pay Dh140,000 as compensation to the complainant.

The court based its ruling on the proportion of damage caused by each car in the accident.

The two insurance companies then took the matter to the Federal Supreme Court which decided that they pay a total of Dh 340,000 to the claimant, one of which was to pay Dh200,000 and the other Dh140,000.
