The decision was taken yesterday after a meeting in Abu Dhabi with Director of Al Ain Education Zone Nabil Dhahiri.

While pointing out that the fund provides financial assistance under the project, READ, which was launched in 2005, Muhairi stated that Zakat Fund will provide Dh597,000 for the care of 219 students in Al Ain.

He emphasised that the project would continue to provide aid to needy students and support them so that they could complete their studies.

Al Ain Education Zone director said he had recommended 400 cases of orphan expatriate students and others who were financially weak.

He said the sanctioned aid would cover the needy students’ cost of study, books and transportation.
