The donation which is delivered to Islamic Care Society’s branch in Lebanon will cover the basic needs of 10,000 male and female homeless students of elementary, preparatory and high school for the academic year 2007-2008.

The charity establishment also pledged to give support and aid for two months to around 13,000 displaced refugees who fled their homes in Nahr El-Bared Refugee Camp in Lebanon because of clashes between the Lebanese army and militants.

“The donation comes at a time when the population of the refugee camp lis facing great hardships without electricity, water and medical services,” said Hani Mahmoud Abu Zainab, Member of the Board of Trustees Islamic Care Society in a joint Press statement in Dubai yesterday.

Abu Zainab thanked His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the gesture and rapid response to calls by the Lebanese and Palestinian humanitarian organisations to extend urgent help to Palestinian refugees in north Lebanon.
