According to a report released by the Economy and Planning Department, the volume of local projects executed by the RCA during the previous five years alone has reached about Dh115 million including various programmes in the areas of education and rehabilitation of persons with special needs, through advanced technological methods.

The RCA had supported a number of institutions, which provided services to education seekers, elderly homes, and needy families all over the UAE.

The report referred to the steady increase in the value of assistance extended locally by the RCA, in collaboration with philanthropists in the country, whereby the RCA executed various humanitarian projects like seasonal assistance during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid celebrations, construction projects such as building of mosques, schools, other structures and drilling wells. Services projects like orphanages, clinics and educational centres were also provided.

Regarding the help extended outside the UAE, the report stated that the total assistance provided by the RCA from 1980 to 2003 has reached over Dh1 billion, in response to requests by international humanitarian bodies. Hence, the RCA had executed assistance to over 95 countries.

Due to the prominent place the RCA has come to occupy as a humanitarian organisation in the world, it was elected in the year 2001 to a seat in the International Association for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Asia. It was also chosen in 2002 to the membership of the five-member Donors Forum Coordinating Board of Directors.
