Degrees conferred on 493 graduates

AL AIN — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, conferred degrees on 493 male graduates at the convocation of the 25th batch of the UAE University here yesterday.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Festivals Hall of Al Ain Sport and Cultural Club.

Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of the university, paid special thanks to Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates for their continuous patronage of higher education in the country.

He also paid tribute to the late president Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who built the UAE and established the UAE University as a pioneering educational institution which has now become one of the most important universities not only in the AGCC Countries, but also at the international level,” Shaikh Nahyan observed.

He said that the university is paying close attention to the requirement of education for all classes and sections of society and was playing a leading role in spreading awareness and enlightenment among the people.

Shaikh Nahyan lauded the consistent support and assistance of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Head of Abu Dhabi Education Council.

He also praised his support to construct the new University City reflecting the growing importance of the UAE University.

“The UAE University has become an institution of high-quality and distinction as 40,000 students have so far graduated from here,” he added.
