This was announced during a special workshop on "The earth is between your hand, so keep it well" at Ahlan Hall at Dubai International Airport yesterday.

The workshop was inaugurated by Engineer Khalifa Al Zafin, Director of DCA's affiliate Department of Projects, and attended by a large number of senior DCA officials and directors. Senior officials from Dubai Municipality, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and the Emirates Environmental Group were also present on the occasion.

"The civil aviation department is keenly committed to implementing the rationalisation of energy consumption programmes and spreading environmental awareness among our personnel — both at the DCA and at the Dubai International Airport," said Engineer Khalifa Al Zafin.

During the workshop, Jamal Al Hai, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Strategy and Administrative Excellence; and Engineer Masoud Taher, Director Engineering Services Department, launched a book highlighting the new environmental policies.

Habiba Al Marashie, Chairperson of the Emirates Environmental Group, stated that the UAE is considered one of the top water consuming countries in the world — an area where the Emirates need to promote a firm policy of conserving energy resources.
