Abdullah Al Najjar, Manager, Events and Ceremonies Division of the DCA's Protocol and Public Relations Directorate, said the simple ceremony is held annually as a token of appreciation to people and agencies who have contributed to the success of projects organised by the Haj Committee.

"This is our way of showing our appreciation to our partners in various agencies in government and private companies, including the media sector. We conduct this ceremony annually," Al Najjar said.

He disclosed that the last Haj season registered around 30,000 Haj passengers of Emirates airline and Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) who have used the Dubai International Airport's facilities and services.

"Every year we welcome and evaluate suggestions and comments from all customers and we try our best to improve our services and facilities," Al Najjar mentioned.

Around 200 individuals and groups were honoured by the DCA at the function at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel's Rashidiya ballroom.
