As part of Procter and Gamble’s (P&G) ongoing Create Heroes project, students of the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center, along with members of the public painted pictures on individual canvases to create an impressive mural reading ‘Pause…Think…Choose’, the theme for the project at the Mall of the Emirates.

The students painted the famous landmarks of Dubai like the Burj Dubai and the Emirates Towers in bright colours of red and orange.

Apart from the bright coloured buildings that make Dubai’s skyline, the children painted bright flowers, butterflies, sunsets and created hand impressions.

Seventeen-year-old Eoin, a student of the centre showed off his canvas of a cheetah, while nine-year-old Mohammed painted brightly displayed flowers in a garden.

Shoppers at the Mall of the Emirates paused as they passed by the Grand Atrium, where the children were painting their canvases.

Many of them even put on aprons and began painting with the students.

Karim Abdelmoniem, Marketing, P&G said, “There will be a P&G podium in various hypermarkets like Carrefour and Hyper Panda where these canvases will be placed on display.

“Apart from that, proceeds from the sales of P&G products like Tide, Olay, Ariel and Pampers among a few will be donated to the Rashid Paediatric Center. We want to raise awareness, and remove stereotypic thoughts from the mind of the public.”

Janette S. Graham, the Head Teacher of the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center said, “The only regular source of income for the center is from fees.

And an approximate required expense per student at the centre is Dh50,000-55,000 per year. We have a total of 140 students and 86 staff members. Raising awareness for the center is like a ripple effect, the more the people know, the better.”

The Create Heroes campaign was launched with a human ‘freeze’ in the Mall of the Emirates late last year, where 140 volunteers froze on the spot for two minutes.
