Course on aviation security for women staff

DUBAI — The General Department of Airport Security started on Sunday a training course on aviation security for women staff of police at Dubai International Airports, Ministry of Interior, Customs Department and Dubai Civil Aviation.

The course will cover civil aviation laws, work mechanism at airports, dealing with fire and emergency cases, inspection of passengers and luggage by using x-ray and protection of the aircraft.

Brigadier Pilot Ahmed bin Thani, Director of General Department of Airport Security, confirmed the importance of training of security staff to ensure security and safety of millions of passengers using Dubai International Airport.

Detecting gold

DUBAI — Damas organised a week-long advanced training course on "Detecting gold and jewellery" for Dubai police officials working in the various sections of the police department.

Major Nasir Abdul Wahid, Director of Customer services Department at the Community Services Department, said that a number of experts delivered lectures. The course included visits to a number of shops in gold markets to get practical training.

He said that the concerned police staff should be able to differentiate between precious and other metals.

Damas said that it is ready to organise similar courses for police staff in the future.

Eye care centre

DUBAI — Welcare Hospital will launch its centre of excellence for eye care, called the Welcare Eye Centre, at Dubai Healthcare City on April 23.

The centre will treat all eye-related ailments by a bigger team of experts using modern processes, techniques and equipment.
