He said that the first accident took place at 2:45pm on Shaikh Zayed Road, when a car driven by an Asian man, who was accompanied by his 30-year-old wife, his 28-year-old brother and a child — a year-and-a-half old boy — collided with a cleaning car.

The Asian man driving the car died on the spot while his wife, who was seriously injured and was rushed to Rashid Hospital by the Air wing of the Dubai Police, later succumbed to her injuries. The man’s brother and the child were admitted to a hospital.

Bu Farousha said that the second accident took place on Thursday at 4am on Al Khail Road when an Arab driver lost control over his vehicle and it ran into a fence. He was admitted to a hospital. He said that primary investigation showed both the accidents were caused due to speeding, particularly the first accident — the cleaning car was parked to perform jobs and its hazard lights were on to alert other road users. Despite this, the speeding victim ran into the car.
