Cops use technology to solve crime cases

ABU DHABI — The Department of Criminal Evidences at the Directorate General of Abu Dhabi police has solved lots of crime cases committed over the past seven months.

The number of laboratory investigations conducted over the past seven months by the Central Labs reached 3,030 tests, including forensic tests that used to identify criminals in various crimes such as manslaughter, filiation, drug possessions, fire accidents and other criminal cases where advanced technology were utilised.

Due to the great attention paid by the headquarters of Abu Dhabi police to criminal evidences and security issues, the laboratory of the Department of Criminal Evidences managed to achieve a developmental boom, said Colonel Dr Ahmed Al Awadi, Director of the Department of Criminal Evidences at the General Department of Checkpoints and Security Affairs. "This laboratory was classified and placed at the top among other excellent laboratories in the region since it is furnished with the recent techniques and equipments in order to keep it abreast with the recent developments." said Col. Dr Awadi.

He said the lab is equipped with a number of highly qualified national cadres who have been sent abroad for scholarships to receive degrees and scientific experience. Col. Dr. Al Awadi pointed out that the forensic laboratory is currently using the latest techniques of the DNA prints.
