“We have taken measures to prevent traffic jams, particularly on the first days of the school year. Police patrols have been doubled on the roads, particularly near schools,” Major Ghanem Ahmad Ghanem, Director of Fujairah Traffic and Licences Department, said. “The department will soon coordinate with Fujairah Educational Zone to organise lectures and training on students’ safety in buses and on roads. Drivers should pay utmost attention to the safety of children crossing the streets and adhere to traffic rules,” he said, adding: “Teachers should also be available at the school entrances on the first days of school. They should receive the students and instruct them on how to get down safely from the buses, how to sit upright and be watchful and alert when the bus is on the move.”
