Mahavir Singh, a relative of the deceased who resides in Kalba, said that Sunil was on his way to work on a bicycle when he was hit by a car. “He suffered severe injuries and died 17 days later. We requested his company for financial help, but they declined to do so,” he said.

“Each time we approached the company for help, they told us that they were not responsible for Sunil’s death,” Mahavir said.

“We approached the Indian Social Club, Kalba for help which, in turn, contacted the company and were once again turned down. We then approached the Indian consulate and they assured us of all possible assistance, including the repatriation of the body,” he added.

Dr Narayan, President of Indian Social Club, Kalba told Khaleej Times that the employer was not ready to pay the hospital expenses or repatriation expenses.
