Speaking to media persons, Karim T. Abdullah, Managing Director of Perfect group said ''Some competitors were provoking the strike to safeguard their vested interests and it has damaged the goodwill of his company.''

''The problem started when a worker created problems in Ajman labour camp of the company after he was drunk. He started to fight with the camp manager who informed the Company PRO, who is a national.

He claimed that day evening some workers started to create problems demanding action against the PRO alleging that he had beaten the worker. ''Management officials had a discussion with the workers that evening but they were not listening. Next morning these workers were stopping others from going to work. They were threatening the workers who were ready to work,'' he said.

''When the police came to the camp, the striking workers were alleging that they were not getting salaries for the past six months and there was no drinking water at their labour camp. Police suggested that they complain to the labour officials,'' he said

He claimed that the salary was paid to the workers and only two months' salary was withheld as this is allowed by the UAE labour law. ''Some companies were helping some workers to create problems for my company. The living conditions in the labour camp were good and company was taking care of the workers always,'' he said.
