Being held in association with Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (TECOM) from May 30-31 at DIHRD headquarters, the conference is meant to highlight the best practices of the government departments, including those of Dubai Ports World, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Department of Economic Development, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police and Dubai Department of Civil Aviation.

In his speech, Nabil Ali Alyousuf underlined the importance of the conference and its timing. He also praised the cooperation between DIHRD and DGEP since it reflects the complementary role which they play to sustain the performance of employees in the government sector in order to achieve excellence.

“The conference provides a unique opportunity to look into the development levels achieved by the government departments after eight years of implementing the Dubai Government Excellence Programme,” he added.

Ahmed bin Bayat, Director-General of Dubai Free Zone for Technology and Information, stated: “The best practices highlighted in the conference prove that the DGEP is on the right track with regard to achieving its targets and enhancing the performance of the government sector so that it encounters all challenges and meets international standards.” He said that an assessment of DGEP’s accomplishments would serve as a benchmark for the programme during its next phase.

The first day of the conference consisted of six sessions on topics ranging from leadership, human resources, policies and strategies, partnership and resources, process and E-Gate project. The second day included highlights of human resource results, key performance indicators, customers results, and society results.

Since its introduction, the Dubai Government Excellence Programme has focused on fostering excellence, creativity and quality concepts, besides incorporating best management and professional practices into several government entities.

Under the ambit of DGEP, Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development has organised more than 100 specialised workshops and seminars, and trained over 1000 government employees.
