The conference will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, and Shaikha Fatimah bint Zayed bin Saqer Al Nahyan, by the Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Foundation for Human Development at the Ajman University for Sciences and Technology.

Dr Amna Khalifa, Foundation's general manager, said yesterday that the conference will highlight the causes behind students' aggression and its implications, an analysis of its effects on the students' academic performance, and the most appropriate solutions to curb it.

The conference will be attended by representatives of students' councils, unions of university students, and schools and universities from both local and other GCC countries.

Five work papers will be presented which will cover topics such as the media and its influence on students, the anatomy of an aggressive character, and family education and violence.

Students from both genders from different schools will be given the opportunity to suggest solutions to curbing violence and aggression in schools.

The conference will be held in coordination with the Ministry of Education's Social and Psychological Care Department.

Dr Ahmad Al Khayat, Director of the department, noted: "Violence is usually linked with teenagers and the youth. But there are many different factors and impulses that drive a youth to aggressive behaviour."

On the sidelines of the conference, workshops will also be organised for students.
