The Bangladesh government has sought assistance from international organisations and foreign governments to tide over the crisis. The chief adviser of the interim government in Bangladesh, Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed, has stated: “The Bangladesh government has mobilised its own resources to assist flood victims and has called upon the people from all walks of life to come forward with helping hands for relief and rehabilitation.”

Many Bangladeshi expatriates have come forward to assist the flood-affected people of Bangladesh, the mission ambassador in the capital welcomed their initiatives for the victims, a Press release said.

The Bangladesh mission in the UAE has opened an account — Chief Advisor’s Welfare and Relief Fund — in Janata Bank branches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman so that expatriates and others can contribute for the relief work for flood victims.
