Communicating with parents is a must, said Education Minister

ABU DHABI – A new way of handling complaints and suggestions from parents, students and educationists – country wide – launched by the Ministry of Education, on Sunday, to enable the applicants to follow up their claims by calling the new Toll-Free number 800 663 823.

Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, inaugurated today the Command and Communication Centre (CCC) with many units providing various services in the capital.

“Communicating with parents is a must”, said the Minister, adding that the move came in light of the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to improve services to the public.

“The public [teachers, principals, parents, students and workers at schools as well] can call the CCC to inform the minister on any problem at the schools regarding to violations to the law or an urgent need to maintain schools’ buildings, break down in the IT systems and computer labs in the schools”, Dr Hassan added.

The Center came as per the mutual cooperation between the ministry of education and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) to develop the IT infrastructure in the education field.

He pointed out that the public and experts can also say their suggestions to develop any sector in the education field to improve the outcomes of education.

The public can use the center to record their complaints, remarks and suggestions 24/7, however, if they want to talk to the staff they should call during the working hours that start at 7.30 am to 2.30 pm from Sunday to Thursday.

Moreover, the minister said, that the CCC will follow up the complaints and suggestions by calling people to update them on the progress of theirrequests.

Rashid Salem Lakhraibani Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the ministry, approved the project two weeks back and had completed the training of the 25 call center staff to be able to provide the public the best services.

The command centre will help the ministry collect information to compile a database about private and public schools and to determine school needs.

Ministry of Education officials and support service departments were given a two-day training programme on handling phone inquiries from the public.
