Committee set up to plan transport, communications

ABU DHABI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday presided over a federal cabinet meeting at the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi.

Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan also attended the meeting which discussed a number of issues.

The cabinet decided to set up a permanent committee for planning and coordination to develop the country’s transport and communications sector.

It also appointed the Minister of Governmental Sector Development and Chairman of the Transport Authority, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansour, as head of the committee and empowered him to appoint the committee members from all the emirates.

The cabinet also decided to restructure the ministerial legislation committee and the technical legislative committee, that will be chaired by Minister of Justice Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Daheri. The committees are being restructured to meet the administrative modernisation requirements of the federal government.
