Forecasters predict more showers particularly in the mountainous and coastal regions of the country on Tuesday.

Rain fell across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi including Al Ain and Western Region late on Sunday, while Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah received showers early on Monday as well.

Overcast skies and a cool breeze greeted residents of Dubai. After a humid day on Sunday, the cloud cover provided a welcome respite from the rising temperature of the previous days.

Dust left deposited by the recent sand storm was whipped up by the brisk winds, causing problems with visibility. For pedestrians, the cooler weather made walking a more comfortable experience, with the gusts of wind bringing the temperature down further.

Despite the threatening skies, no rain fell in Dubai during the day. But the overcast conditions ensured that the city was cast in a gloomy light all day.

According to forecasters, the showers were the result of a system over the central and eastern parts of Saudi Arabia. Satellite imagery also showed a trail of clouds over the Arabian Peninsula coming from Africa across the Red Sea. The system has, however, been bypassing the UAE, producing only scattered clouds.

The maximum temperature fell to 25 degree Celsius during the day where on Sunday it was 28 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, the entire Monday remained cloudy, windy and moderately chilly, and whereas it also reduced the visibility level by the evening particularly in some external areas of the country.

Fujairah also witnessed light to moderate showers which reduced the temperature in the emirate and caused accumulation of water in low-lying regions.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology, the weather will be hazy today in general and partly cloudy particularly in the northern parts of the country. It is also forecast there will be a rise in temperatures especially over the interiors and the western areas.

On Monday, wind was blowing at a speed of 30 to 50km per hour during the daytime which decreased to 14 to 28km per hour by the night. The sea will be moderate to rough in general, the centre said.

The hazy and partly cloudy weather will continue tomorrow over some areas in the northern parts of the country, with a rise in day temperatures as well, but there was no chance of rain forecast by the centre as well.
