In reply to a query regarding the recent discovery of three hidden cameras in ladies’ toilets at the Ministry of Environment and Water office in Dubai, Lt-Gen Al Shafar said yesterday: “This is the first time such an incident has happened in a government institution. The person involved has been found to be suffering from a psychological problem.”

However, he said, stringent measures would be taken to avoid similar incidents in the future. The private security companies were being trained to meet the standards set by the Ministry of Interior. The ministry had set some conditions the security companies had to comply with when applying for a licence, he said.

The Undersecretary confirmed that the security authorities across the country were keeping a watch on the performance of the security companies to ensure that these companies met the required performance level. Those found incompetent would not be allowed to continue work.
