Addressing the media recently, EEG’s chairperson Habiba Al Marashi said, “The campaign is a pioneering activity that has successfully rallied thousands of participants each year, since its inception in 2002. It has moved from strength to strength, creating and breaking its own records in terms of mass involvement and mobilisation of support from government and private agencies.”

Explaining the need to organise the campaign, she said the need for renewed environmental vigilance was being felt now more than ever as the environment reels from many threats like desertification, high solid waste production, waste and energy wastage, and green house gas emissions etc., which contribute to global warming.
