In Dubai, the municipality is working round the clock to repair roads and pump out water from various areas affected by the downpour.

Around 26 road accidents were reported in Ajman while the water-logging in various areas have proved to be the breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies.

Ajman Municipality is making great efforts to drain water from the areas that remain flooded.

Saif Al Shamsi, Deputy Director-General of the Ajman Municipality, said engineers have studied the problems that caused the damages to the emirate this season and have started to solve them by improving the drainage systems.

“They are working on paving and reconstructing roads in some residential areas like Al Bustan and Al Naimia where stagnant water may pose a health hazard to people.”

He said engineers had also been assigned to clear roundabouts. “The work on improving the drainage and the roads is being carried out in residential areas where the water has blocked entrances to buildings.”

Meanwhile, Hussain Lootah, Director General of the Dubai Municipality said the civic body has assigned 500 workers to solve problems like water-logging. “The municipality also used around 50 machines to drain water in several areas,” he added.
