The Municipality warning comes after a large number of complaints were filed by the residents against the bakery owners, for what they allege, 25 to 50 per cent hike in bakery products recently.

Eng. Rashid Hamdan, Director General of Fujairah Municipality, has issued a circular to all bakeries asking them to refrain from hiking the prices of bakery products. They have been asked to keep the prices at the earlier level, i.e. at the level they were before the hike.

Fujairah citizens were taken aback by the sudden hike in the prices of bakery products. For example, while the price of cakes increased by 50 per cent, Iranian bread prices shot up by 25 per cent. The other products registered a hike between 25 and 50 fils.
